100 years of tradition! Imagine what it would have been like to attend the first Hoosier Art Salon Annual Exhibition in Chicago in 1925.
Hundreds of people attended the reception before the exhibition opened. All four living Hoosier Group members – T.C. Steel, J. Ottis Adams, Otto Stark and William Forsythe – had works displayed, along with art from Charles Dahlgreen, Frank Dudley, Frederick Polley, J. Will Vawter and Clifton Wheeler.
Fast forward through many historic years, challenging events and progress, the Hoosier Art Salon is alive and well. Hoosier Group artists would be thrilled and awed by the excellence, diversity and groundbreaking art being produced in Indiana today.
100 years of history is a big responsibility! With your help, participation and support we plan to keep the tradition alive for the next 100 years to come!
This year, 264 artists submitted 675 entries. The judges Jill Stefani Wagner and Qiang Huang accepted 143 works for the 100th Annual Hoosier Art Salon Exhibit.

WOW x WOW Gallery proudly presents Silent Soliloquies.
The working life of a visual artist can often be a solitary one, where inner monologues take on significant importance, and for many, become an integral part of the creative process. Scientific research on the inner voice is still in its early stages and there continues to be disagreement between scientists regarding the phenomena. Some believe that there are three unique types of thinkers: verbal thinkers, visual thinkers, and pattern thinkers (the latter make connections between actions and emotions). Others believe that due to the inner voice being part of our subconscious, this makes it very difficult for us to define our internal process, and that most likely we each rely on all three. In advance of the scienctific community reaching agreement on the matter, this month’s exhibition brings you a wonderful celebration of the magical potency of those ‘Silent Soliloquies’.
JULY 05 - JULY 26, 2024
WOW x WOW Gallery proudly presents Monochromagic 7, our seventh annual exhibition of monochrome artworks.
For centuries, artists have created monochrome images and sculptures. By limiting the colour palette to just one, the focus for the artist, and in turn the viewer, becomes more direct and encourages deeper contemplations and closer connections with the colour, form, texture and techniques of an artwork. The artists participating in this exhibition are all brought together through their affinity for monochromatic exploration and simultaneously via a shared passion for the language of surrealism and fantastical narratives. The absolutely intriguing monochrome wonders you will behold, have unfurled from truly masterful imaginations and are loaded with enigmatic and enchanting magic: ‘Monochromagic’.
